Part of the allure of being in groups all year long is getting to let your business hair down, and have a little fun! You may not be able to make them all… but do your best to get out there and meet people in fun, holiday settings. Give people (and yourself) the opportunity to […]
Sometimes I am in the band and sometimes I am in the audience. Either way I appreciate both perspectives. It’s a rare opportunity to wear two sets of shoes… sometimes both at the same time. Perspective is a conditional condition… appreciate both sides!
It never surprises me that people find the holidays as a main (and only) time to give thanks and give back. What happens to that in February, June or October? Add a appointment to your calendar this year every month or every other month to be generous. The needs of people doesn’t celebrate a holiday!
Not only do you get the good tidings for lending a hand, but volunteering gives you the opportunity to meet new people, or get to know people better. We all have time, talent and treasure. If your treasure is limited, then consider give some of your talent and time to make a difference!
At church, the worship leader was asking for lessons from the lead guitar play on how to play lead guitar. Leaders can ALWAYS learn for subordinates, and subordinates and always learn from teaching. Never pass ups an opportunity to learn or share knowledge… It makes this world a better place for all!
For most of us in the midwest – snow is a hassle. You have to drive in it, shovel it, deal with it. Then there is the unseen gift. I was about to shut down the house when I saw this… rabbit tracks in our walkway. It reminded me of how we may be so […]
Social Media is about Social first and Media second. Have fun with it. I wrote a post that talked about past Christmas presents. It was a fun post to write, but even more fun when I got to post a picture of me at nine or ten years old. The point is to have fun […]
No matter where you live, weather creates challenges to networking. You may feel less motivated because it’s snowing, raining or whatever, but others are counting on you. Treat networking like the post office, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” Do […]
While networking with some peeps the other day I mentioned Mike Montgomery as a hockey player I knew. One of the people asked, “Is he a goalie?” (which he is). During Mike’s presentation this morning we learned that he worked at Bell Labs in a prior life (as did my mom, dad and myself). Connections […]
One of my networking partners invited me to a sporting event. With only two days notice, you can imagine the shuffling it took to make it all work out. You never know who you will meet (friends, clients and more). Networking through association can be fruitful and fun!
