The other day while at a networking meeting, one of the members told us about a store we should be going to for our photo copying, shipping and office supplies. She shared the story of how the owner printed birthday party invitations for a young girl who was asking her guest to make a charitable donation instead of giving a gift. The owner of the store was so impressed with the girl’s generosity she sent her a birthday card with a check for the charity.
I am a frequent customer at the store, so the next time I was in I told the owner the nice thing I had heard about her. She said this had occurred over a year ago.
Obviously, we shouldn’t do good deeds for the reward, but you never know what the long lasting effects may be. When you hear of an act of kindness spread the word.
